Wyoming Airsoft, Eye Protection on Let'er Buck!

Alright, it seems every time I post something I'm coming off as a Safety Monger.

To put it bluntly.

WEAR proper eye protection. With the amount of new people starting to pop up and the more organized teams and events happening it would be extremely bad for public image as well as a persons health for some one to be wearing in appropriate eye protection to get hurt.

What is in appropriate eye protection you ask? Well lets look at this list.

1. Any NON rated ANSI safety glasses
2. Prescription Eye Glasses with out side protectors.
3. Any style of sunglasses
4. Any style of glasses that does not offer full eye protection value and or wrap around the head.
5. "Shop" goggles or Military "Dust" Goggles

These are just a few examples and a simple guideline to follow. What do you want in a good pair of safety goggles/glasses?

1. ANSI Rated
2. Full seal around the eyes preferred
3. Full face and side of head protection preferred

Many people including myself till recently wore the "Shooting" style glasses while playing through trial and error and a player actually receiving an injury we have decided to switch to full seal goggles. Most major events and large games will not let you wear anything other then full seal goggles.

Here is how I simply look at it. Airsoft is fun. But loose an eye and see if its still as fun. Or you be the one responsible for letting some one wear improper eye protect at your event. OR even worse your the one shooting at some one who is not wearing proper eye protection and they get hurt.

It is common practice these days for the military to use no only full seal ANSI rated Ballistic GOGGLES but Full face Goggles. So if its the realism factor your worries about dont be. You'll look just as cool in a pair of googles as you would a pair of glasses.

Just my two cents. Remember Hindsight is 20/20 and you only have two eyes. You need both of them.

I actually changed over from shooting glasses to an AO2 mask, and love it. However, you do not say anything about a metal mesh eye cover. Also alot of my team uses wrap around shooting glasses. Is this acceptable in most circles?

the mesh maskes work, but you have to be careful where you get them from some wont stand up to direct hits, thats why its always a good idea to wear some type of eyeglasses underneath.

Wrap around shooting glasses are ok as long as they seal to your face so that there is no space between your face and the glasses so that a bb cant slip in between the glasses and your ace and bounce off the glasses then hit your face. the smallest of hole a bb will some how slip into and hit you. better to be safe then be minus an eyeball

see the problem is on the s10 is that its foreign so ansi wouldnt apply to it, and it was more of a design flaw on the mask that was exploited than weak lens material(were it hit on the better designed part of the lens didnt even recieve marks)
